The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stooped to a new low by sending instruction to its party MPs to attack Congress president Rahul Gandhi verbally and demand an apology from him for “defaming Amit Shah in Justice Loya death case”.  Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala today, posted a letter issued to the BJP MPs b the saffron party stating the same.

“Lameduck efforts by a vile BJP to stop an enquiry into #JudgeLoya death reaches its zenith as copycats are regimented to toe the fascist line! So much for democratic functioning where power to think, speak & tweet is held captive by self anointed shenanigans of free speech!!!” Surjewala tweeted.

In the letter, the BJP has asked every MP to give byte to the local TV demanding Rahul Gandhi to apologise for defaming Amit Shah in justice Loya death case, and to issue a press statement. They have also been asked to use all social media platforms – WhatsApp and SMS – to spread the same. Even the content supposed to be written in the SMS was mentioned in the letter.

This has come a day after the Supreme Court dismissed various petitions seeking an independent probe in the Judge Loya death case. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud held that judge Loya died a natural death and that there was no merit in the petitions filed.

Loya had been hearing the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, in which Amit Shah was an accused. After Loya’s death, M.B. Gosavi, the judge who took over the case discharged Amit Shah in less than a month and even before the trial had even started. He began hearing Shah’s application for relief on December 15, 2014, and concluded hearings two days later on December 17, reserving his order.

By asking its MPs to attack Rahul Gandhi verbally shows the level of insecurity that has penetrated into the BJP.
