Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the latter has to read his speeches from a teleprompter in order to avoid accidentally mentioning his false promises.

“Mr. Modi made several promises, but they were lies. He has looted the people of the country. Have you seen his speeches? He has to read his speech from a teleprompter to avoid accidentally mentioning his false promises like ₹15 lakh, 2 crore jobs etc,” Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting in Samastipur, Bihar.

Talking about the Congress Party’s NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana/Minimum Income Guarantee) scheme, Gandhi said that while PM Modi gave money to people like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, he will take that money from them and give it to India’s poor.

“5 crore families will receive ₹72,000 annually under NYAY scheme for 5 years. And it will be deposited directly into the women’s bank accounts. PM Modi gave money to people like Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. I will take that money from them and give it to India’s poor under NYAY scheme. This scheme will neither burden middle-class nor harm the economy,” he said.
